Saturday April 20, the association Les Saveurs du bois du Roc in Monestier held its traditional open day. The opportunity for members and neighbors to come and discover what is happening behind the greenhouses and the house with the blue shutters.

Participants were able to meet the association’s employees but also visit the premises and (re)discover the joys and demands of market gardening through various small workshops: harvesting strawberries and peas, sowing, etc. This is how, throughout the day, around thirty people were able to learn and understand how this association works. The explanations on the main activity, organic market gardening, also interested visitors.

The day ended with a workshop on how the worm composter works followed by a Spanish inn-style meal. A real moment of meeting, sharing and exchanges appreciated by all participants.

Accompaniement

For the record, the association, created in 2011, aims to support people in social and professional difficulties towards the world of work through a salaried activity: organic market gardening, vineyard work and an activity providing services for the Dordogne mixed departmental waste union (SMD3).

“Our goal is for everyone to find sustainable employment that suits them. In addition, we produce all our vegetables and fruits in an eco-responsible way and respect the cycle of nature,” underlines Martin Chassagne, the director of the association.
