A second day of prevention and awareness for bikers was organized at the Laubadère barracks in Mirande. 24 people participated.
Building on the success of the 1st day organized in April and as part of the departmental road safety action plan, a 2nd day of prevention and awareness for motorcyclists was organized by the services of the Gers prefecture, in partnership with the departmental gendarmerie security squadron (EDSR).
It took place on Saturday September 28 at the Mirande mobile gendarmerie, at the Laubadère barracks, and was aimed at all motorcyclists with an A, A1 or A2 license and an engine capacity equal to or greater than 125 cm³.
So 24 bikers showed up for a safety course. Several highlights were on the program.
In addition to reminders of the fundamentals and the safety trajectory, reminders of the first actions to take in an accident and workshops (alcohol, narcotics and airbag demonstrations) were offered, as well as a road circuit for groups of 4 bikers. .
Accidentology
This action makes it possible to respond to the new challenges of the general road safety orientation document 2023-2027, including a local issue concerning motorized two-wheelers.
These users are particularly present in Gers accidents. Indeed, in the department, accidents involving two motorized wheels represent 20% of bodily injury accidents: in 2023, in the Gers, of the 126 accidents observed, 32 accidents involved a two motorized wheel. Among these accidents, 16 accidents involved motorcycles over 125 cm3.
Since the start of the year, the following have been recorded in Gers: 9 accidents involving motorized two-wheelers; 6 involving motorcycle users over 125 cm3 with 4 drivers of 2 motorized wheels killed and 4 hospitalized.
