After the presidential match played in Plaisir (Yvelines) on April 24, 2024, the Variétés Club de France returns to the department on Sunday May 5, 2024, in Poissy (Yvelines), for an unprecedented meeting. Jacques Vendroux’s team welcomes, at the Léo-Lagrange stadium, the national selection of priests who will play under the colors of Holy Games, “the mobilization of the Catholic Church to support the world of sport and major sporting events. »

Pirès, Giresse, Karembeu…

Trained by a former member of the Girondins de Bordeaux, the father Bertrand Cherrier, this selection of 20 players is made up of priests from all over France. They will therefore face players like the former French internationals, Robert Pirès, Alain Giresse, Claude Puel, Christian Karembeu or Olivier Dacourt.

An interfaith match

For the occasion, the Variétés Club de France will integrate into its team thebishop of Digne and representative of the Catholic Church for the Games, Monsignor Emmanuel Gobilliard, the chief rabbi of FranceHaïm Korsia, a imam of the Ivry mosque (Val-de-Marne), Mohamed Ahsaini, and the pastor of the Protestant church of Clamart (Hauts-de-Seine), Amos Ngoua Mouri.

Archbishop and arbitrator

Even thearbitrator of the meeting will be a priest. The Archbishop of Rouen, Monseigneur Dominique Lebrun, will thus find the referee’s costume that he wore on the lawns of Seine-Saint-Denis in the 1990s.

Michel Drucker and Raï will kick off

Before kick-off, given by Michel Drucker and Raï at 3 p.m., a prayer common will be celebrated by the four representatives of religions on the ground, in tribute to the victims of the Furiani tragedy. The stadium doors are scheduled to open at 1:30 p.m. The program also specifies that a mass will be celebrated in the morning, at 10:30 a.m., at the Collegiate Church of Poissy.

The meeting will be broadcast at 8:35 p.m. on the KTO television channel and on the ktotv.com website.
