End of orange flood alert in Seine-et-Marne. The section of the Grand Morin downstream has returned to yellow, indicates Vigicrues this Saturday morning, after experiencing a “significant flood”. Flooding has affected several areas around Coulommiers in recent days.
“The heavy rains stopped almost everywhere last night, favoring a return to normal.
The propagations and recessions are in progress on the Grand Morin (77)”, specifies Vigicrues.
The flood peak was reached at a height of 3.11m in Pommeuse this Friday morning.
Flooded houses and roads
Thefirefighters have intervened more than 200 times since Thursday noon, a spokesperson for the Seine-et-Marne firefighters told France Bleu Paris early Friday, mainly in the Ferté-sous-Jouarre, Faremoutiers and Rebais sector. Thursday afternoon, two schools and a nursery were evacuated “as a precaution” in La Celle-sur-Morin, Giremoutiers and Guérard. Firefighter operations for reconnaissance and pumping resumed this Friday morning.
On the road, “overflows generate difficult traffic conditions in certain sectors”warns the Seine-et-Marne prefecture on X. In transport, traffic was interrupted until the end of service this Thursday evening on line P between Marles en Brie and Coulommier due to a fault power supply, due to bad weather, indicates SNCF Transilien on its website. “In addition to flooding, a tree was discovered by technical teams in the Mouroux sector. Electrical installations are strongly impacted by bad weather”specifies the count X of the line.
Seine-et-Marne was already affected by significant flooding at the beginning of August, following heavy stormy rains. In certain municipalities, such as Ferté-Gaucher, the water had risen to 40 cm. The Ile-de-France region announced last week that it would release aid of 1.6 million euros for victims following these floods.
