The terrible fire in a building on Boulevard des Italians in the 2nd arrondissement of Paris caused the death of three people on the night of Monday April 29 to Tuesday April 30, 2024. The firefighters were still on site at the end of the morning.

Residents trapped in the attic

In the middle of the night, the Paris firefighters were alerted for a fire in progress in a building on Boulevard desItaliens (2nd arrondissement) occupied by offices and apartments located in the atticdetailed Laurent Nuñez to BFM TV during a press briefing given this Tuesday, April 30, 2024.

Several residents, presumably those who lived on the top floor, would have found themselves prisoners flamesout of reach of the rescuers who could not access the floors due to the staircase of this “old” building which had caught fire.

In total, the balance sheet amounts to three dead. The discovery of the bodies was said to be “rather late” despite the “rapid” intervention of rescuers.

Significant resources mobilized

Still according to information from the police chief, 180 firefighters were mobilized. A ” very dangerous rescue through the roof” helped save one person.

Cause of fire unknown

At present, the causes of drama are not known. The central police station is currently in charge of the investigations.

According to information communicated by the Paris center town hall, the heat already done melt a gas pipe which would have aggravated the fire.
