The Ile-de- roads department explains on France Bleu this Tuesday why the reopening will take place gradually from May 11 in the province-Paris direction. For now, the retaining wall still needs to be stabilized.

Patience ! New timetable for the reopening of the A13: on May 11, only in the province-Paris direction and only for light vehicles initially “subject to security conditions being met” according to the press release from the Hauts-de-Seine prefecture.

“Today the retaining wall and the embankment are not sufficiently stable to accommodate traffic, but there is no risk of imminent collapse”explains Sophie Dupas, the deputy director of Dirif, in charge of operation and maintenance.

The stability of the retaining wall is the sine qua non condition for being able to reopen, and for the moment the “stability is limited”. This is why a “additional backfill at the foot of the wall” will be done.

The retaining wall has moved slightly. “Our monitoring last week showed a slight shift” of the order of one millimeter per day. “It’s gradually stabilizing. By reinforcing this embankment, we will achieve the desired objective for user safety.describes Sophie Dupas.

In the other direction, Paris-Province, no reopening date announcedbecause it is necessary to repair the hydraulic structure under the roadway, “much more degraded”. “We are working on a search for the quickest and most effective repairs. We will have solutions and a schedule to be proposed during the week or early next week.”

“The triggering event would indeed appear to be the movement of the retaining wall in relation to the work on the grounds of the former Sully barracks”, explains Sophie Dupas, deputy director at DiRIF, in charge of the maintenance and operation of the A13. The A13 motorway has been closed since April 18 due to a large crack in the road, caused by the movement of a retaining wall. The Dirif’s preferred hypothesis is to point out the work of a museum below. “The A13 motorway did not present any structural defect before the event, describes Sophie Dupas. The section had undergone road maintenance in particular in 2022. We had regular monitoring, the infrastructure was in good condition. state”.*
