Nasrallah’s legacy in the resistance
Nasrallah has been Hezbollah’s leader since 1992, succeeding Abbas Moussaoui after his assassination. Under his leadership, Hezbollah became a formidable military and political force, not only in Lebanon, but throughout the region. He orchestrated major victories against Israel, including the Israeli withdrawal from southern Lebanon in 2000 and the resistance during the 2006 war. The Hezbollah statement refers to Nasrallah as a leader who led the resistance from victory to victory, in maintaining strong support for the Palestinian cause.

An uncertain future for Hezbollah and the region
The disappearance of Hassan Nasrallah leaves Hezbollah at a major turning point. Although the movement has promised to continue the struggle and defend Lebanon, Palestine and Gaza, Nasrallah’s succession remains a crucial issue for Hezbollah’s future.
