Almost a week after the Singapore Grand Prix, Racing Bull confirmed the ousting of Daniel Ricciardo in favor of Liam Lawson.

It’s official, Racing Bull has just thanked Daniel Ricciardo! While rumors of a departure were growing before the Singapore Grand Prix, the divorce between Faneza’s team and the Australian driver was finally made official this Thursday, September 26. Laurent Mekies, boss of Racing Bull said: “He brought a lot of experience and talent to the team, with a fantastic attitude, which helped everyone develop and foster a close-knit team spirit.” After winning eight Grands Prix and signing 32 podiums in Formula 1, Daniel Ricciardo is probably preparing to leave for good. “I have loved this sport my whole life. It’s wild and wonderful and it’s a journey. To the teams and individuals who played their part, thank you. To the fans who love this sport sometimes more than me, ha ha thank you, declares the Australian pilot on social networks. There will always be ups and downs, but it’s fun and honestly, I wouldn’t change it. Until the next adventure.”

Liam Lawson, not so new!

If doubt still hovered regarding the exact date of Daniel Ricciardo’s departure, the identity of his replacement has never really been debated. Unsurprisingly, Racing Bull has confirmed the arrival of Liam Lawson. “It’s great to see young talents from the Red Bull family taking the next step, explains Laurent Mekies. We look forward to focusing on the rest of the season together. Liam [Lawson] already knows the team well. He drove for us last season and handled the difficult circumstances well, so it will be a natural transition.” As a reminder, the New Zealand driver had already raced under the Racing Bull colors last year to replace Daniel Ricciardo, who had a wrist injury. After seducing the Red Bull clan, including a certain Helmut Marko, Liam Lawson will finally debut in F1 with a confirmed starting role. If the new Racing Bull driver has not yet reacted to his start, the New Zealander is already impatiently waiting for October 20 to compete in the United States Grand Prix.
