It’s a 31st day which has the merit of being a great showcase for the French championship. IN total, 40 goals were scored. Each team shook the nets. A first since the 1976-1977 season. On average, 4 goals were scored per match. A record day which tightens the races for the Champions League between Monaco, Lille, Brest, Nice and the Europa League between Lens, Marseille and Lyon.
Paris offers its twelfth title
In a complicated match, Luis Enrique’s team, trailing by two goals against Le Havre last Saturday, managed to snatch a draw in the final moments. A point which did not yet allow them to be champions (70 points). The Parisians only needed one misstep from Monaco against Lyon to secure the title. This is what happened.
At Groupama Stadium, OL showed character to come back in front twice and claim victory (3-2). Alexandre Lacazette produced a remarkable performance while Monaco paid for its defensive feverishness.
Brest wins a crazy derby, Lille ensures
The craziest match took place at Roazhon Park on Sunday. After a great start from Stade Rennais (2-0, 8′), the Brestois first came back to score through Steve Mounié (10′) and an error from Warmed Omari. Stade Brestois, exceptional this year, even took off twenty minutes later (2-4, 66′).

Rennes, full of vigor, raised their heads with a clear strike from Theate (68′) and a free kick deflected by Terrier (4-4, 79′). But the generosity of the Rennes defense returned on the last opportunity of the match. Lilian Brassier, trained in Rennes, came to cool the stadium’s enthusiasm (4-5, 90’+5). The Brestois (3rd, 56 pts) are guaranteed to play in Europe next year.
Lille (4th) traveled to Metz (16th). The Messins opened the scoring from the penalty spot before thwarting. Lille dominated the entire match (1-2) and remains in the race for the podium (4th, 55 pts).
Marseille wins before Atalanta
At the Vélodrome, Olympique de Marseille (9th) hosted Lens (6th). Four days before their Europa League semi-final first leg against Atalanta, the Marseillais snatched victory with Pape Gueye, after an error by the Lens defense.
The Marseillais are now in 7th place tied with Lyon (44 pts). The race for Europe is more than ever on, three days before the end of the championship.

Nice fought back by overthrowing Strasbourg (1-3) and remained in the race for the Champions League. The Azuréens take 5 points ahead of Lens and come back to 4 points behind Lille (4th).
Clermont revives, Lorient collapses
Clermont sounded the revolt on its lawn against Reims. Pascal Gastien’s team had a full match (4-1). Lorient, earlier at the same time, suffered a defeat against Toulouse, despite a good start. The hakes (17th, 26 pts) see Clermont return to one unit.
