They had not won in the League since March 10, five games without a victory, three defeats and two draws. At home, Sunday April 28, Olympique de Marseille finally put an end to its poor run in Ligue 1, by beating Lens at the very end of the match (2-1) on the 31st day. OM took advantage of this upswing in the championship to move up to seventh place, just behind Lens, still European.
If the trajectories of the two clubs were not exactly the same, the Lensois traveled to the Vélodrome with some similar problems: despite an upset against Clermont last week (1-0), Franck Haise’s men only won one match over the last five meetings. And OM struck hard from the start: a right-footed shot from Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, his fourteenth of the season in the league, put the Olympians in front on the scoreboard from the first minute (1-0).
If the Lensois insisted, it was not until the last quarter of an hour that Wesley Saïd gave his club hope, with an uncrossed header (77th, 1-1). While the two teams were heading towards a new draw, Pape Gueye finally gave Marseille victory at the very end of the match (85th, 2-1). Something to reassure at the dawn of a double confrontation in the semi-final of the Europa League, against Atalanta.
