While spin-offs, prequels and sequels are the new rule in Hollywood, Hitek’s editorial team has come up with five ideas for spin-offs that would make fans jump for joy.
#1 Game Of Thrones: the conquest of AEGON I Targaryen
Since the end of Game Of Thrones In 2019, HBO launched several spin-offs of the fantasy series inspired by the world of George RR Martin and officially ordered two. After the excellent first season of House of the Dragonthe Warner group’s cable channel has formalized a series taken from Chronicles of the Knight Errant and which should probably disobey an unspoken rule of series Game Of Thrones.
In 2023, we learned thata series centered on the Conquest of Aegon I Targaryen and his sisters 300 years before the War of the Five Kings was in preparation. A fans’ dream that could well come true! Be careful though: the cancellation of the series project The Long Night with Naomi Watts, as well as the more recent one of the sequel on Jon Snow show that the spin-off on the Conquest must first and foremost satisfy HBO before being made official by the channel.
#2 Harry Potter: The Origin of Hogwarts
In 2016, JK Rowling returned to the Wizarding World with Fantastic Beasts. First announced as a five-film saga, the adventures of Norbert Scamander will ultimately only be entitled to three films, the last part of which will be released in 2022due to the public and critical failures of Crimes of Grindelwald and Dumbledore’s Secrets. While Warner is finally planning a series reboot of the cycle Harry PotterPotterheads are waiting for another announcement, but unfortunately it was never made…
Indeed, many of us want a series centered on the creation of Hogwarts by the four founders: Godric Gryffindor, Rowena Ravenclaw, Helga Hufflepuff and Salazar Slytherin. First of all, this spin-off could tell us about an essential era in the History of the Wizarding World ; then, by placing its plot in the Middle Ages rather than in contemporary times, it would allow recall the fantasy heritage of the entire saga Harry Potter.
#3 Star Wars: The Adventures of Mace Windu
First appeared in Star Wars, Episode I: The Phantom Menace in the guise of Samuel L. Jackson, Mace Windu is one of the most popular Jedi among fans of Star Wars. Left for dead following his altercation with Anakin Skywalker after falling from the floor where Palpatine’s office was located, Mace Windu disappeared from radar. But according to his interpreter Samuel L. Jackson, Mace Windu is not dead.
Enough to give hope one day for a return in series form of the Jedi Master, there is only one step! At any rate, fans of the character would be delighted to discover his fate after Revenge of the Sith and the reasons why he didn’t fight the Empire in the original trilogy.
#4 The Lord of the Rings: The Fall of Gondolin
A year and a half ago, Amazon Prime Video launched the most expensive series in history: The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power. Set in the Second Age of Middle-earth, the series immerses us in the events that led to the creation of the Rings and the One Ring by Sauron, and Galadriel’s bitter struggle against the future Dark Lord. The series was received rather coldly by a whole section of the publicwho did not appreciate the differences between Tolkien’s books and the series on the one hand, and the unfortunately too slow pace of the show on the other hand.
However, we continue to hope for a good spin-off of the Lord of the Ringsand it seems to us that The Fall of the elven city Gondolin in the First Age would be an ideal choice for a new series. The series is said to be full of characters both tragic and epic, like Húrin, Glorfindel and Echtelion.
#5 Peaky Blinders: a spin-off about Alfie Solomons
One of the most famous British series, Peaky Blinders ended in 2022 with a season 6 finale calling for a sequel. While Steven Knight is currently working on the film supposed to end the adventures of Thomas Shelbywe recently learned of the start of two spin-offs: the first on organized crime in Boston and the second on the youth of Polly, the aunt of the Shelby brothers whose actress Helen McCrory tragically died between seasons 5 and 6.
However, another iconic character from the show deserves to have its own spin-off: it is Alfie Solomons, the Jewish gangster masterfully played by Tom Hardy. First of all, the English actor has collaborated on several occasions with Steven Knight, notably on the series Taboo of which we are still desperately awaiting a sequel. Then, the actor and the character are charismatic enough to carry a series without the magnetic Tommy Shelby.
