The case will undoubtedly cause controversy and once again raise questions about the ultra-violence of certain minors, and about the criminal response to it. The 15-year-old teenager, suspected of being the main perpetrator of the murder of another 15-year-old minor, late Saturday afternoon in Châteauroux (Indre), is known to the police. According to our information, the young man was indicted last week for “aggravated theft with violence” by a juvenile judge. He was released under judicial supervision, given his age and the absence of a criminal record. He is involved in another ongoing case. Information confirmed by Agnès Auboin, public prosecutor of Châteauroux.

Around 5:45 p.m., Saturday, as revealed by La Nouvelle République, the Information and Command Center (CIC) of Châteauroux was notified of the care of a 15-year-old teenager, injured by a stab on the public highway . On site, emergency services tried to save the victim, who had several wounds on his chest, and transported him to hospital with a life-threatening condition.

The suspect taken into custody

The witnesses named the perpetrator who was arrested shortly after, around 7:15 p.m., near the scene of the brawl. Aged 15 and known for criminal record treatment (TAJ), he was placed in police custody while at the same time the medical profession announced the death of Mathis, the victim.

This drama comes as several cases have hit the headlines in recent weeks, shedding harsh light on the uninhibited violence which is plaguing some young people. On April 4, in Viry-Chatillon, beginning (Essonne), young Shemseddine, 15, was fatally beaten after two brothers learned that he was discussing “sexuality” with their little sister. In (Hérault), it was the schoolgirl Samara, 14, who was publicly lynched by minors after having suffered cyberharassment.

To fight against minor violence, Prime Minister Gabriel Attal said he wanted to work on “a possible mitigation” of the minority excuse. In an interview given to the Tribune du Dimanche, Minister of Justice Éric Dupond-Moretti confirms that a consultation on the subject is being set up for eight weeks. The Minister of Justice himself announced that he was going to “start next week with the various conferences of magistrates, unions, then elected officials and parliamentarians” in his area.
