Investigators working on the Philippine murder case in have identified an individual suspected of taking the life of the 19-year-old student. He has been arrested.

A few days after the terrible discovery of Philippine’s bodylargely buried in the de Boulogne in Paris, emotion is still running high around Paris-Dauphine University, where the student was educated. At the same time, investigators have identified the person suspected of being the perpetrator of the murder. He was arrested : who is he?

Already sentenced to seven years in prison

As revealed by Le Parisien, Taha O., a 22-year-old suspect, was arrested in Genevain Switzerland. Homeless, he is a Moroccan national who was far from unknown to the French justice system. Indeed, while he was still a minor, The individual had been prosecuted in 2019 for a rape committed in a wood in , in the Val d’Oise. 24 months later, he had been sentenced to seven years in prison.

Under OQTF, house arrest…

Still according to our colleagues, Taha O. was released from prison in 2024with placement in an administrative detention center, accompanied by an obligation to leave French territory (OQTF). Le Parisien also adds that the individual would never have respected his house arrestwhich had been pronounced following his release from detention.

He used Philippine’s bank card

Also listed in the FNAEG (national automated genetic fingerprint file), the suspect was notably identified thanks to the use of the Philippine bank cardto a distributor in (Seine-Saint-Denis). Which provided major clues to investigators.

The autopsy carried out on the student’s body confirmed that she had died of asphyxiation, but many questions still remain unanswered on September 25 surrounding this tragedy. Open for voluntary manslaughterthis investigation was entrusted to the criminal brigade.
