A traffic accident occurred this Tuesday, September 24 at 4:20 p.m. on the road towards Sigean, involving a car and a heavy goods vehicle. The passenger of the car and the driver of the truck were transported to the hospital in Narbonne, but the driver of the car unfortunately died on the spot.
A traffic accident involving a heavy goods vehicle and a car occurred this Tuesday afternoon, September 24, on the D6009, after the roundabout of the African Reserve, towards Sigean. Two people were in the truck, the driver was slightly injured. Two others were in the car: a woman in her thirties who was slightly injured and shocked, and a 40-year-old man for whom the emergency services used cardiac massage. Unfortunately, it was not enough to revive him, the driver of the vehicle having died on the spot.
The firefighters dispatched three ambulances and a road rescue van to the scene, along with a nurse and a team from the Narbonne Smur. The road was closed during the intervention, causing major traffic jams and forcing motorists to take a detour via the Lieu d’art contemporain (LAC) in Sigean.
At 6:30 p.m., the firefighters had left the scene and returned the road to road users. The truck driver and the passenger in the car were taken to the emergency room of Narbonne hospital, in a relative emergency situation according to the firefighters.
