We repeated over and over that the continuation would be played out until the end of the season in this ultra-tight Pool B of National 2. But it was without imagining that the Loir-et-Chérien derby would offer such a scenario to three days to go.
The many spectators expected at Les Allées this Saturday evening at 7 p.m. will indeed be served: Blois Foot 41 intends to scratch the last missing points to ensure its place in the fourth French level, while SO Romorantin will quite simply play for its survival.
Never so close to relegation in a division left by a title in… 1995
The Solognot club, which remains on a terrible series of six defeats for one draw, got bogged down in the red zone and has never been so close to relegation to National 3 – a division left by a title in… 1995 ! – while the N2 championship will send five clubs from each of the four groups one level lower as well as the worst team ranked 9ein order to move to three groups of sixteen teams next season.
In detail, the Solognots are three points behind Bergerac Périgord FC (9e), four on Bourges Foot 18 and Saint-Pryvé Saint-Hilaire (8e and 7e) and five on Vendée Les Herbiers (6e). A setback, combined with the success of its four teams, would already be synonymous with a descent.

“We are in a very very difficult period but we must persevereindicates Michaël Villatte. The small hazards of each match, between injuries and cards which lead to suspensions, do not help. It’s mentally tough because it’s not going in the right direction. But it will be time to take stock at the end. For the moment we are in action, in combat. There are three games left, it’s not over yet. And nothing better than a derby! »
The technician, who tried to change things, “in the speech and in the content of the sessions”thus ensures that there is “lots of motivation and energy before this particular match”despite the many absences: “Gagnon, Arzalaï, Beaka, Marchadier were players in the eleven at the start of the season…”
“Knock them out of the race with us”
On the Blésois side, like the speech of ex-Romorantinais Julien Charpentier and David Lopez, there will be no qualms. “The objective is to simply take points to keep up as quickly as possible. And it doesn’t matter which team is facing you. We are seven points ahead of Romo so we have to at least leave them at seven points with two days remaining to eliminate them from the race with us”says Cédric Hengbart.
If the latter, who had the heyday of Caen and Auxerre in Ligue 1, takes the derby less to heart, he knows its importance but without forgetting the primary objective: “There has been a lot of talk since the start of the week because the derby here means a match for departmental supremacy. But from Monday, I told the players that I was not worrying about the opponent, that we had a match to win and that we were going to concentrate on ourselves. In this sense, the preparation reassured the BF41 coach, who saw his players do “their best week of training” since several weeks : “The guys got back on track after resting on their laurels a little. They know how important the match is to give themselves two weeks with serenity and not fear. »
The message is therefore clear and displayed at Blois Foot: finish the job and not spoil the great second part of the season. Even if it means sinking the neighbor, who has not needed anyone to collapse since the epic in the Coupe de France.
