For this last day, the stock exchange recovered part of yesterday’s losses, posting an increase of 0.89% to 8,088 points, with trading volumes reaching 3.57 billion euros at the close.

This session was driven by good quarterly results on both sides of the Atlantic, notably with the American tech giants, Microsoft and Alphabet, which are currently recording increases of 2.40% and 9.75%. respectively.

Furthermore, regarding inflation in the United States, no unpleasant surprises were in store, which is reassuring a few days before the FED meeting. Month-on-month data is in line with consensus, but year-over-year data is slightly better than expected. The core PCE index increased by 2.7% year-on-year, and excluding food and energy, this measure amounts to 2.8% on an annual basis, but identical to expectations and data between February and March.

On the Parisian index, we find at the top of the table Saint Gobain which progresses by 6.88%. The group reported yesterday evening a turnover of 11.36 billion euros in the first quarter, down 5.8% on a comparable basis due to the decline in new construction in Europe but this This exceeds the consensus by only 1%.

In its wake Kering recovered with an increase of 3.25%, Schneider Electric continued its upward trend then the luxury group Hermès recovered part of its losses from the day before with an increase of 2.31%. Furthermore, TotalEnergies shares reached a new high of €70, thanks to a less sharp drop than expected in the group’s adjusted net profit, to $5.1 billion over the first three months of the year. year 2024.

On the other hand, STMicroelectronics is at the bottom, closely followed by BNP Paribas, Danone and Eurofins Scientific. However, Airbus recovered at the end of the session while the stock was in last position at the start of the day. The group announced a sharp drop in operating profit in the first quarter and well below expectations.

On the SBF 120, which trended well yesterday, Eramet stood out with an increase of 11.29%. Emeis also recorded an increase of 7.29%, while Nexity returned to the €10 threshold, despite a 14% drop in its turnover in the first quarter.

On the other hand, Alten suffered a drop of 11.40%, penalized due to its caution regarding its prospects. Just behind, VusionGroup lost 5.24% and Valeo 3.24%, the latter having also published a slight drop in turnover in the first quarter.

And finally to finish, at the Paris close, Wall Street is very well oriented, with a slight increase of 0.30% for the Dow Jones, while the Nasdaq progresses by 2%, supported by the performance of the technology sector, as mentioned previously.
