Mbappé vs PSG: Al-Khelaïfi targeted

The dispute between Kylian Mbappé and PSG over unpaid wages is causing a stir. The involvement of Nasser al-Khelaïfi too.

This is probably the last saga involving Kylian Mbappé and Saint-Germain. But it dates back a long time and is likely to continue. Shelved in the summer of 2023 by his former club, the French striker had suffered the wrath of his management for a letter sent a few months earlier, in which he indicated that he would not extend and would leave on a free at the end of his contract. To regain his place in the team, Kylian Mbappé had reached an oral agreement with Nasser al-Khelaïfi on various financial concessions. Problem: between his reinstatement in Luis Enrique’s group and his departure in June 2024, Kylian Mbappé has not received several salary and bonus payments. Since then, tensions have been mounting and the dispute has been making headlines.

While the Mbappé clan refused the mediation initially proposed by the LFP, the body then ruled in favor of the player, asking PSG to pay the 55 million euros claimed. A decision that the capital club appealed, with a statement published on Friday in which it stipulated that
“The original contract was legally amended and also fully respected by the player and PSG, until the player decided to go back on all his commitments by leaving the club”The case will now be brought before an appropriate court. From the point of view of some, the involvement of Nasser al-Khelaïfi in this case is controversial.

Ego problem

Radio host and PSG supporter Pia Clemens spoke about this on the channel The Team. “There are many supporters who find Nasser naive. They wonder how he could have let the club commit to something so important with only the word of Mbappé and his entourage.” And the observer continues on the case of the Qatari president of PSG. “We are starting to have a lot of cases that are problematic because of Nasser al-Khelaïfi’s ego. I have enormous respect for the president of PSG, but between the Parc des Princes where he no longer speaks to Anne Hidalgo, Mbappé with whom he is in open conflict, Rabiot with whom it ended badly. We can no longer count the number of people with whom there have been really violent conflicts. If we could get past the ego, that would be good.”

A rant that should not change anything following the case opposing Kylian Mbappé to his former employer. All these people should find themselves before the industrial tribunal to settle the dispute. A civil jurisdiction whose decision is already eagerly awaited by all.
