An apartment fire on the 3rd floor of a building in Valréas in Vaucluse destroyed three homes and caused the death of a woman in her thirties and a 10-year-old child. Two people bothered by the smoke were transported to Valréas hospital.

Emergency services were alerted around 4:30 p.m. this Wednesday, April 24, in Valréas in Vaucluse, for a fire in progress in a four-story building.

According to initial findings, the fire started on the 3rd floor, where firefighters found the bodies of a woman in her thirties and that of a 10-year-old child. Nearly 32 firefighters battled the flames and evacuated the residents of this building. Two men, bothered by the smoke, were transported to Valréas hospital. The fire then spread to two other apartments located on the 4th floor of this building.

The evacuated people were relocated by the town hall, but also with relatives. The town of Valréas reacted on Facebook to provide support to the families of the victims. An investigation is underway to determine the causes of the fire.
