It doesn’t matter if it’s past 10 p.m., there’s no time for coffee. While playing at the very end of the day against the Chinese Juncheng Shang in the first round of the tournament, Corentin Moutet made a somewhat special request to the chair umpire. While he had won the first set (7/6), the French tennis player once again stood out, not for a fantastic point but by getting angry with the referee.

Trailing in the second set, the 88th player in the ATP ranking asked the referee if he could have a coffee. Faced with the latter’s refusal, Corentin Moutet got annoyed, offering a lunar sequence which was taken up on social networks.

In this video, we hear the 25-year-old getting angry at seeing his request refused. “I saw on Tennis TV that they were giving away coffee. Why can’t you give me some? Is it because I’m on court number 4? Tell me ! », says Moutet to his interlocutor. “No matter where we play, we don’t provide coffee,” he was told.

Enough to annoy the Frenchman who does not understand why he is entitled to bananas, sodas, but no coffee, going so far as to provoke the referee: “Am I asking for caviar? », he says. “Corentin, we have to play now,” concludes the referee. Finally, Moutet will get his hot drink, not from the organization but from a spectator who hands him a coffee.

this scene, the referee called the supervisor to ensure that this person in the stands had the right to provide this drink to the Frenchman. Unfortunately for the latter, this dose of caffeine was not enough for him to win this meeting, which was definitely a little crazy. In the third set, Moutet was sprayed by the person who maintained the court behind him before losing after more than 4 hours of against his 19-year-old opponent (6/7 (9)-6/2- 7/6 (10)).

This is not the first time that Corentin Moutet has been noticed for a drinking story. In February, he notably asked for a one and a half liter bottle of Pepsi in the middle of a match during qualifying in Buenos Aires. Again, it wasn’t enough to win.
