Jano Vincent, the man who was convicted of second-degree murder after colliding head-on with a vehicle on Highway 50 on Oct. 6, 2019, died at the Regional Reception Centre on Thursday.

This is what the Correctional Service of Canada (CSC) reported in a press release published Friday.

The 38-year-old prisoner had been serving an indeterminate sentence since July 11, 2024. SCC indicates that his relatives have been informed of the events.

The circumstances surrounding his death are currently being investigated. The police and the coroner have been notified.

Following his trial, the jurors determined that Jano Vincent had intentionally caused the fatal collision on the A-50, near Grenville-sur-la-Rouge, with the intention of taking his own life.

The collision had instead caused the death of Robert Campion.

Jano Vincent had 10 years before he could apply for parole.
