A rap clip was produced to raise awareness among young people about the dangers of laughing gas, given the increase in the number of nitrous oxide canisters found in the streets of Bourges.
Several young people made a video clip to raise awareness about nitrous oxide. Coline, Assada, Souleymane, Khalil, Aaliyah and Vivien, in turn, explain through the lyrics of their rap, the dangers of this so-called laughing gas which is attracting more and more young people.
The initiative for this project is based on an observation. For more than two years, urban cleaning agents have seen the number of nitrous oxide cartridges and canisters increase. This gas, which we buy to make whipped cream, is diverted from domestic use for its euphoric properties.
Prevention
To combat this new trend, the voice was given to young people. “Who better than young people to talk to young people,” remarks Magali Bessard, first deputy, who represented the mayor of Bourges. “With this observation, during a day of discussions, we were asked to make a video to raise awareness about the “proto”.

The idea of rap comes from young people,” explains Mounir Soufiani, educator at Apleat-Acep who supervised its creation with the support of Addictions France. The young volunteers created the clip in two months, for the launch of Printemps de Bourges today. It will be broadcast on the “Make the break” stand, and on other occasions such as the Neighborhood World Cup, at the beginning of May, to raise awareness among as many young people as possible.
Double stake
“This fight is at the intersection of environmental and public health issues,” explains Magali Bessard. In 2023, between January and August, 800 canisters were found in Bourges, around twenty per week. Gas, combined with alcohol or drugs, increases neurological risks and causes dependence. » Recycling the capsules also poses a problem, as the city is not equipped for this.
