Loaned by Olympique de Marseille last summer, Mattéo Guendouzi (25 years old) seems on the verge of settling permanently at Lazio. With 28 games and 2 goals in Serie A this season, the player has attracted interest from the Italian club, who have a purchase option automatically activated if Lazio finish in the top 10 in Serie A, which seems likely given their current seventh place, with a comfortable lead of 9 points over 11th Monza with five days remaining.
The second condition for the purchase option to materialize is Lazio’s victory in the Italian Cup. Although the road was difficult, Lazio reached the semi-finals against Juventus Turin, but lost 2-0 in the first leg.
