As part of the European Heritage Days, Saturday September 21, the Terra Mater collective is offering, for the 3rd year, the Pond Day. “We are attached to the village and our desire to promote Bouzigues and its pond, the natural heritage of the area, is still as strong as ever. Pond Day will therefore be, like other years, a day of awareness, highlighting and understanding the beauty and fragility of this ecosystem that is dear to us.”explains Caroline Bailly, who initiated this event. The inauguration will take place at 9 a.m., at the town hall square and all day long, you will be able to enjoy the varied and fun activities around the port and in the library garden.

Discovering ecological corridors

There will be something for all tastes, all ages: stroll Green and Blue from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. organized by the CPIE with an environmental educator from the LPO , bilingual route in Occitan and French on the coastal path to discover the ecological corridors of Bouzigues (departure from Place du Belvédère). Small fishing still offered from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., by Cosciences to discover what is hidden in the first few centimeters of water in the pond, and still with Cosciences, from 2 p.m. to 4:30 p.m., activities around the educational marauding tool “Mar’eau” allowing for discussion on water preservation. At 3 p.m., the youth municipal council will organize a waste race for young and old (departure from the town hall gardens). Finally, Mèze nature will be present from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m., with a participatory fresco workshop “Draw me the pond“, Belvedere Square.

Works around biodiversity

The seaweed workshop, organized by Les amis du musée de l’étang, will take place at the museum from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. And then, all day long, you can discover the Inkartad exhibition, with 13 artistic works around biodiversity offered by the CPIE Bassin de Thau, at the town hall and Place du Belvédère, as well as an amateur painting exhibition on the theme of the pond in the library garden. The evening also promises to be rich in events and surprises. From 7 p.m. to 11 p.m., Place du Belvédère, the Toqués du bocal will offer their famous macaronade (reservations recommended at 09 50 30 94 02), and L’Étang gourmand its no less famous ice creams.

The public will be able to taste the oysters of Chez Gines Coquillages while listening to the students of the Bouzigues school, who will sing on stage. The APEB has in fact joined forces with the Terra Mater collective, allowing the children to repeat the performance they worked on last year with their teachers and presented at the end-of-year show.

The day will end in style with the energetic concert of La bise à Madame, which had already taken place two years ago, leading villagers and tourists in a giant farandole on the Place du Belvédère.
