Heritage Day: Languedoc vines in all their forms

The dynamic association Pavid’Oc, with the support of the Vias-plage tourist office, as part of the European Heritage Days, is organizing a conference on the theme: A cop era… Once upon a time there was a vine. A conference that promises to be exciting; it will take place this Friday September 20 2024 at 6:30 p.m. at the Jean-Raynaud sports hall (avenue d’).

Wine and vines are linked to the cultural identity of men, but it is particularly strong in our region: . There are many questions that people who do not know the work carried out all year round in the vineyard ask themselves: monitoring the evolution of the vines, the harvest, how do you go from a fallow plot to a vineyard, what are the different gestures of winemaking in a private cellar, then in a cooperative cellar, what are the different grape varieties used in our region.

Many questions that we ask ourselves, and which will be answered by the Vias speaker, Gérard Jourdan, particularly recognized for his many publications on the heritage of the local territory. He has notably written an excellent book on the names of the streets of Vias. He will take the participants in this conference on a journey to a time when traditions, social and cultural life were in symbiosis with the work of the vineyard.

In fact, a time not so long ago when the Occitan language was still the one used when working in the vineyards. A time that saw the birth of the many professions in viticulture that have subsequently had a strong influence on many generations of Languedoc residents.

Like all conferences organized by the Pavid’Oc association, entry is completely free and open to all. In addition, at the end of the conference, a moment of conviviality will await all participants in this event which promises to be exciting.
