Sean 'Diddy' Combs in September 2023 was arrested by New York police.
UNITED STATES – He has been the target of nine complaints for several months. In March, one of his residences was searched. Prosecuted in particular for sexual assault, the American rapper Sean Combs, alias Diddy or Puff Daddy was arrested on the night of Monday to Tuesday, September 17 by the police in Manhattan, New York.
“Earlier this evening (Monday), federal agents arrested Sean Combs on an indictment from the Southern District Court of New York.”prosecutor Damian Williams said, adding that details of the charges were expected to be released later today.
P. Diddy's lawyer, Marc Agnifilo, explained in a statement sent to AFP that his client was in “voluntarily” in the city, where he recently moved. His camp is “disappointed in the decision of the United States Attorney's Office to continue what we believe to be an unfair prosecution of Mr. Combs”he added.
Sean Combs, 54, is a global rap star who has been known since the 1990s. But he is described by his alleged victims as a violent sexual predator who used alcohol and drugs to obtain their submission. Since July, a former porn actress, Adria English, has filed a complaint for sexual assault. She accuses him of having used her “as a sexual pawn for the pleasure and financial benefit of other people.” It allegedly happened in the Hamptons, New York, and Florida during parties between 2004 and 2009.
Another case concerning him is a complaint from his ex-partner, the singer Cassie. In November, she accused him of having had a “violent behavior” And “deviant” for a decade. A video dating from 2016 supported this theory. A confidential agreement signed between the two camps recently allowed this matter to be settled “amicably”.
Combs has always denied the allegations against him, including in the 1990s when other allegations of abuse surfaced, but at the time, he had no major convictions.
