Where to celebrate Canada Day in Atlantic Canada

Canada Day is a day of celebration that allows Canadians to come together to celebrate their culture and diversity. From coast to coast, many communities organize activities for young and old. Here are a few that take place in the Atlantic.

Moncton

The public is invited to the Riverain Park starting at noon where shows for the whole family will take place, including the presence of the magician Rémi Boudreau and the character Féeli Tout.

A craft market is open until 10 p.m. on the street. Downing. From 5 p.m. to 10 p.m., headliners Caroline Savoie and Big Wreckwill get the crowd dancing, just before the fireworks in the three communities, Moncton, Dieppe and Riverview. Some streets will be closed, full details here. (New window)

Dieppe

Games and activities are offered at Place 1604, under the theme of a festive carnival. Art Richard will get the little ones dancing from 4 p.m. In the evening, the group La Patente and Plywood Joe will take the stage. Finally, people are invited to go to Riverain Park in Moncton at 10 p.m. for the traditional fireworks.

Tracadie

The Tracadie Regional Municipality is taking advantage of Canada Day to also celebrate its 10th anniversary of the municipality’s merger. A rally to observe this 10th anniversary is being organized on the Véloroute de la Péninsule acadienne from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Participants can register at the Tourist Information Centre.

Starting at 11:30 a.m., several activities are offered at the Marché centre-ville: BBQ, inflatable games, music, crafts. In the evening, people will be able to see performances by local artists and the groups Évolution and Géomatrix.

Bouctouche

The public is invited to come and participate in a family day at the Bouctouche dune, starting at 11 a.m.

Remember that Greater Bouctouche will vibrate to the rhythm of the closing ceremony of the 2024 Acadia Games final at 2 p.m. at the arena J. K. Irving.

Fredericton

In the capital of New Brunswick, the festivities are offered at Place des Officiers from noon, with the participation of Katherine Moller and the Aboiteau group in the evening, before the traditional fireworks.


Charlottetown

Islanders in the provincial capital can celebrate Canada Day at Victoria Park where a triathlon for children ages 5 to 13 takes place around 8 a.m. In the afternoon, family activities are offered along with performances by local artists and the band The Fabulous Rich : The Tragically Hip Tribute.

Summerside

At the park Green’s Shorelocal artists will share the stage from 2 p.m., including Allie Walkersinger-songwriter country originally from this municipality. Several family activities are also offered, in addition to the evening fireworks.


Halifax

The Nova Scotia capital offers a national holiday called KANA’TA which includes a wide variety of cultural, musical and family activities and programming developed in collaboration with Indigenous communities. The festivities take place at the park Waterfront.

The Canada Day Parade Royal Nova Scotia International Tattoo is organized from 10 a.m. in the city center and a big show will be offered at the park Ferry Terminal of Dartmouth at 7 p.m.

The Canadian Museum of Immigration at Pier 21 and the Halifax Citadel National Historic Site are offering free admission on Monday.

Yarmouth

Several local artists will parade on the Killam Quay stage, in addition to family activities offered from 11:30 a.m. and fireworks in the evening.


Saint-Jean, T.-N.-L.

Newfoundlanders will be the first to celebrate Canada Day at a special sunrise event starting at 6 a.m. at the National Historic Site of Newfoundland. Signal Hill.

In downtown Saint-Jean, family activities are offered at the park King George Vfrom 1 p.m., including a performance by the French-speaking group Soup’ du Jour.
