Lakers interested in bringing back Lonzo Ball?

The NBA Trade Deadline is two weeks to the day, and the Lakers are looking for ways to improve their roster without completely jeopardizing their future. This is how Lonzo Ball – formerly of the house – interested the Los Angeles franchise.

While the Bulls could press the rebuild button by February 6, Lonzo Ball is one of the candidates for a departure. And the Lakers could step into the breach.

According to Lakers insider Jovan Buha (The Athletic), Lonzo is “on the radar” of the Californian franchise, which could sacrifice one or more second-round draft picks if this helps convince the Bulls to let go of their leader (in the last year of his contract).

Nothing imminent at the moment, but it is a file to watch.

Selected second in the 2017 Draft by the Lakers, Lonzo Ball – trained at UCLA – spent his first two seasons in Los Angeles, before being involved in the mega transfer of Anthony Davis in the summer of 2019. Ball then progressed well with the Pels, and continued his career in Chicago in 2021 where he helped the Bulls play at the top of the table during his first months in the Windy City.

We know what happened next: very serious injury struggles and a return to action this season after two and a half years without playing. If Lonzo Ball is no longer playing at his top level (6 points, 3 rebounds, 4 assists on average), he remains an intelligent, versatile leader, capable of defending and above all playing the role of facilitator in attack.

A profile that can do good for the Lakers, even in limited playing time.
