Viktor Bala is the big bad of The Night Agent season 2 and the patriarch of the Bala crime family. He’s a dangerous and manipulative man who was once the dictator of his home country. He used the Foxglove KX gas, which was provided to him by the US, on his own peopleand the US cleared any evidence of their involvement, causing his motive for revenge. At the start of season 2, Viktor is held in The Hague, a city in The Netherlands, where he manages to pull the strings of his criminal operation from behind bars.

The distinction is important for his narrative arc, symbolizing his differences from his family members and the results of how they treat him. In episode 6, Viktor reminds Tómas of when he was a child, and they would go hunting, and how Tómas would complain about having to do it and then reap the rewards at the end, essentially accusing him of being weak and feminine because of his mother’s influence.
