Real Madrid distances itself from Manchester City and PSG as the club with the most income | Companies

Real Madrid consolidates its position as the club in the world with the highest income, widening the gap with its most immediate rivals. This is shown by the latest edition of the report Football Money Leagueprepared by Deloitte, which takes into account the ordinary income generated by the teams in the 2023-2024 season, which ended on June 30 of last year.

According to it, Real Madrid reached the figure of 1,045.5 million euros, a record for the white entity, which becomes the first club to overcome the 1,000 million euro barrier. Of the top 5, it is also the one that increased its turnover the most last season, with an increase of 26%. Deloitte explains this by several factors. One, the practically complete completion of the works on the Santiago Bernabéu stadium, which made it possible to increase income per match day. This section includes tickets, season tickets and all the business generated by the venue, which reached 248 million euros, double that of the previous year. Commercial revenues also improved by double digits, 19% to a total of 482 million, “driven by a greater volume of merchandising and new sponsorships.” Among them the one signed with the technology company HP, valued at 70 million annually to display its logo on the sleeve of the t-shirts.

An acceleration that allows them to distance themselves from their two immediate pursuers, Manchester City and PSG. Both barely increased their income last season: 1.4% for the English club, and 0.5% for the French club, moving away by more than 200 million from the Madrid team, the greatest distance ever seen in this report. Manchester United, fourth with 770.6 million, and Bayern Munich, fifth with 765.4, did not experience great growth either: 3.3% and 2.9%, respectively. The one that leaves the top 5 is FC Barcelona, with a drop in income of 5%, to 760.3 million. “This decrease was due to a drop of 63 million euros in income per match day due to the need to play at the Lluís Companys Olympic Stadium,” says the consultant. The works that the Barça club is carrying out at the Camp Nou forced the move, which seems to be maintained for most of the current season.

Four English clubs complete the top 10 positions in the ranking. Arsenal climbed three positions to seventh, with a 34.5% increase in revenue, which reached 716.5 million, being the team in the entire classification that grew the most. Something that allowed it to surpass Liverpool, eighth with 715 million, followed by Tottenham (615 million) and Chelsea (545.5 million).

Atlético, on the rise

For its part, Atlético de Madrid reaches its best position since it made the list, rising to 12th place. It is, along with Arsenal, the one that climbs the most places, three. Its income was close to 410 million, a record for the Metropolitan stadium entity, which has just signed an important sponsorship with Red Bull, and which in recent months has expanded its relationship with the Saudi airline Riyahd Air as main sponsor.

In total, the 20 teams in the Deloitte ranking invoiced 11.2 billion euros in the 2023/2024 campaign, 6% more year-on-year. Income per match day was the item with the greatest increase, 11%, “thanks to the increase in stadium capacity, the prices generated by tickets and the premium offers for match days,” says the consultancy. These represent 18% of total income.

Trade agreements improved by 10%, up to 4.9 billion, bringing together 44% of the total. On the other hand, audiovisual revenues experienced stagnation, remaining at 4.3 billion, “since each of the five major European leagues were subject to the same television broadcasting contracts as the previous season or to relatively stable long-term contracts that will last until, at least, 2027″.
