A major European shock. The new format of the Champions League resulted in a match of fear between PSG and Manchester City, placed much lower than expected in the standings of the league phase and in search of a play-off position at the from the 8th and final day. For this, we had to obtain the best result this Wednesday evening at the Parc des Princes. And PSG was the team that started the match best, with more possession, a dry strike from Doué (5th) and a header from João Neves off target (9th). But Manchester City were also dangerous and De Bruyne called on Donnarumma (13th) with a tight angle shot.

Hakimi also tried his hand at striking (18th). Haaland nodded back (20th). Two opportunities, certainly, but without real danger for each goalkeeper, like what the two teams had offered until then. Nuno Mendes received a yellow card, which will deprive him of the match against Stuttgart in a week. PSG had their first huge opportunity from a corner, after a dangerous strike from Vitinha. Fabian Ruiz could shoot from close range after a mix-up but Gvardiol's thigh, on the line, stopped the ball's course (27th). PSG were generally convincing but desperately lacked an offensive spark, while Dembélé was on the bench. Man City in turn got a clear opportunity with a breakthrough from Savinho, on a good serve from Foden, who fell on a good Donnarumma (39th). PSG thought they would open the score after a superb collective sequence but a slight offside from Nuno Mendes forced the referee to cancel Hakimi's goal (45th).
Ten minutes of madness
Returning from the locker room, Luis Enrique launched Dembélé in place of Lee, while Pep Guardiola brought out Savinho and Nunes for Grealish and Lewis. And it was Guardiola's coaching which proved effective since Grealish opened the scoring, after a pinball in the Parisian area, following an overflow from Akanji (0-1, 50th). Luck seemed to have chosen its side, and this was confirmed immediately with Haaland's goal, almost in the same pattern. Overflow, left side this time, from Grealish, center back, billiard shot with Neves who involuntarily put it back on Haaland, who just had to finish (0-2, 53rd).

Killed PSG? The revolt finally arrived, with the first real overflow from Barcola on the left, who opened gaping spaces in the opposing defense and served Dembélé full axis. The Frenchman made no mistake and reduced the score (1-2, 58th). The match had gone crazy and it didn't stop. Doué, on the left, unleashed a powerful strike which found the bar. Barcola had the reflex to take the leather with his left foot, and with the help of the post, equalized (2-2, 60th). Dembélé, author of a smashing entry, followed up with a powerful little bridge strike which crashed onto the crossbar (70th). After coming back from hell, PSG was getting closer to paradise when João Neves, author of an exceptional performance, appeared at the far post to take a free kick from Vitinha with a diving header (3-2, 78th). Despite one or two scares for Luis Enrique's men, the score still moved, in favor of PSG. Gonçalo Ramos took advantage of an involuntary delivery from Gvardiol to win his duel against Ederson (4-2, 90+2nd). In addition to this success, which is so important for the rest of the competition, PSG delivered a match this Wednesday evening full of character and determination, which it still lacked in this Champions League campaign. Enough to consider the European future a little more calmly.
