Sunshine and south winds today with highs in the 40s

EAST TEXAS (KLTV/KTRE) – First Alert Weather Days continue through the morning hours as brutal cold temperatures will be likely early today for all of East Texas. This AM we are waking up with overnight lows in the teens with a frigid wind chill in the low teens and even single digits! Y’all be sure you and the kiddos are nice and bundled up before you brave the cold early today. Thankfully, southerly winds are back and will help our temperatures rocket up into the middle to upper forties this afternoon which is a nice jump compared to the 30s we’ve been dealing with for highs over the past few days. Northerly winds return with a weak cold front early tomorrow, so while we may still hit hard freeze criteria in the middle to upper 20s overnight, we will trend warmer in the afternoon with highs sitting near 50°. Another hard freeze will be possible Thursday night into Friday morning, then we’re back in the 50s in the afternoon. Finally, by Saturday morning we will wake up right at the freezing mark and temperatures will likely remain above freezing throughout the weekend and into early next week. Some limited shower chances return to East Texas later on Saturday, with more widespread showers and a few thunderstorms expected Sunday. You will want to keep the umbrella handy early next week as additional showers will be possible throughout both Monday and Tuesday. We’ll be sure to keep you updated on those developing rain chances. Stay warm today, y’all!!
