He may have swerved his on-court interview but Novak Djokovic did stop to talk to Eurosport. He said:
“I felt great. A couple of hiccups here and there, a loose game when I broke his serve in the third. I had some chances to break him but every time I had an opportunity he would serve big. Just very powerful and precise.
“Obviously [Lehecka is] a little bit of a different opponent compared to my last round but a few similarities – flat backhands and quite aggressive style. But I think I handed well the pressure moments and some moments at the end.”
On being a perfectionist and hating making mistakes:
“Who doesn’t? We all try to handle it in our specific way. Sometimes I do it better, sometimes I work against myself. Only people who have been there at the highest level understand what you have to deal with. There is a lot on the plate and you have to weather the storm when you are feeling challenged.”
-On his coach Andy Murray looking nervous:
“I don’t notice that, pretty much he has the same poker face I have seen on the court for 30 years on the court, trust me. He’s someone that understands very well what kind of pressure moments, what kind of energy I have to deliver on the court when you are challenged by your opponent and all the other things.
“It’s great to have so much energy from him.”
