Saône-et-. Urban violence in a district of Mâcon, three buildings damaged

This urban violence took place in the Saugeraies district of Mâcon, on the night of Saturday January 18 to Sunday January 19. One person was arrested.

10 cars damaged or burned

A “first assessment reveals three public buildings damaged” as well as “three police vehicles damaged”, according to the prefecture. In addition, seven light vehicles were set on fire, an excavator and trash cans were burned.

Calm returned on Sunday at 5 a.m. and the prefect Yves Séguy lifted the operational center which had been activated at 2 a.m. “in order to monitor the evolution of the situation in the presence of the mayor of Mâcon and representatives of the services concerned”.

The prefect issued several orders from Sunday 8 a.m. to Tuesday 11 p.m. for “the ban on the possession and transport of weapons, all categories combined, ammunition and objects that could constitute a weapon concerning the municipalities of Mâcon, Sancé and Charnay” . He requested reinforcements from mobile security forces for the coming night.
