For many fools’ clubs from Baden-Württemberg, the carnival parade is the highlight. We present seven of the most impressive and announce when they will take place in 2025.

Stuttgart – The Swabian-Alemannic carnival is colorful, crazy and humorous. Every year the fools in Baden-Württemberg dress in the traditional costumes of the fifth season. Citizens can admire the colorful costumes at the numerous fool’s jumps – this is what the carnival parades in the state are called. Our editorial team has created an overview of seven of the most beautiful fool’s jumps in Baden-Württemberg.

1. The “Ulmzug” starts before all other foolish jumps

The “Ulmzug” is one of the first carnival parades in Baden-Württemberg. The fools move through the Danube city with their “Ulmzug” three weeks earlier than everyone else. This year the parade takes place on February 9th and traditionally begins at 12.34 p.m. at Ulm Minster – currently the highest church tower in the world. Around 8,000 people will take part in the fifth season celebration, and around 10,000 spectators are expected. Guests from Austria, Switzerland and Liechtenstein are also there.

2. “Häxefüür” in Laufenburg

A real spectacle takes place on Carnival Saturday (March 1st) in Laufenburg (Waldshut district). An impressive night parade, the “Häxefüür”, moves through the old town from 7.11 p.m. Witches, ghosts and demons play their wild game. Over 1,000 bearers delight spectators in the eerily beautifully decorated city.

3. There is “Hänselejuck” in Überlingen

In Überlingen on Lake Constance, the “Hänselejuck” also takes place every year on Carnival Saturday (March 1st). And this parade is also a nightly event. A large group of men in magnificent and unique Hansele costumes parade through the streets of the city down to the lakeshore. The following day (Sunday, March 2nd) things continue lively in Überlingen: from 2:30 p.m. there will be a big parade under the motto “Überlingen: Fasnets Sunntig” the big anniversary parade of the Überlingen Lions and their friendly guilds.

4. Rottweiler fool’s jump

On Shrove Monday and Tuesday (March 3rd and 4th) one of the largest fool’s jumps in Baden-Württemberg starts in Rottweil at 8 a.m. with “Guller”, “Gschell” and “Federahannes”. The hustle and bustle in the Black Forest city, a real stronghold of the fifth season, attracts almost 4,000 fools and 20,000 spectators every year. The local fools’ guilds parade through the city with their wooden masks and other paraphernalia and joke around with visitors on the side of the road.

5th carnival parade in Karlsruhe

There is also an impressive carnival parade in Karlsruhe. This begins on March 4th as usual on Mathystrasse from 2:11 p.m. From there, numerous fools roam the city. Last year around 80 groups took part, and a similar number is expected this year. The parade ends at Rondellplatz, followed by a large sweep and the funeral of the carnival in front of the town hall.

6th night parade in Ochsenhausen

Another night parade for Fasnet takes place in Ochsenhausen (Biberach district). This parade has been an integral part of local customs since 1971. This year it will be held on Friday (February 28) at 7:31 p.m. With music and masks, 85 groups of fools from Ochsenhausen and other districts parade through the city center.

7. Big carnival parade in Weil der Stadt

Another large and beautiful carnival parade in Baden-Württemberg can be experienced in Weil der Stadt. At the last fool’s jump, around 30,000 visitors from near and far marveled at the colorful parade of the AHA fool’s guild. The parade consists of a mix of walking groups and large themed floats. This year the event will take place on March 2nd at 2 p.m. The children’s parade will also take place two days later on March 4th at 2 p.m.
