State offices, area businesses closing ahead of extreme winter weather

BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) – Some area businesses have already decided to close their doors due to the extreme weather and road conditions expected next week.

STATE OFFICES

All state offices will be closed statewide Tuesday, Jan. 21 due to extreme winter weather.

Commissioner of Administration Taylor Barras made the announcement Friday morning.

ASCENSION PARISH

  • Ascension Parish Government offices to close Tuesday, Jan. 21
  • City of Gonzales City Hall and offices will be closed on Tuesday, Jan. 21

EAST BATON ROUGE PARISH

  • City-Parish offices will be closed on Tuesday, January 21 due to the freezing temperatures
  • Baton Rouge City Court will be closed to the public on Tuesday, January 21 unless further extended by the Order of the Court
  • Pennington Biomedical will be closed on Tuesday, January 21 due to the potential for severe wintry weather conditions in the region
  • All locations of the East Baton Rouge Parish Library will closed on Tuesday, January 21.

IBERVILLE PARISH

  • All Iberville Parish offices will be closed on Tuesday, January 21 due to the freezing temperatures

POINTE COUPEE PARISH

  • All Pointe Coupee Parish offices will be closed on Tuesday, January 21 due to the freezing temperatures

ST. MARY PARISH

  • Government Administrative offices will be closed Tuesday, Jan. 21 due to anticipated winter weather
