The president of the Conference of Bishops of France (CEF) Eric de Moulins Beaufort announced this Friday, January 17, 2025 on RMC that he had “taken legal action” to ask it to open an investigation into Abbot Pierre.
“I wrote a report to the Paris Prosecutor to ask him to consider opening an investigation into Abbé Pierre” in order to “to be able to investigate possible other victims or possible accomplices” or on “non-denunciations”added the president of the Conference of Bishops of France, repeating his “horror” after new revelations of sexual violence this week targeting the priest.
33 testimonies target the priest
This Monday, January 13, 2025, a report from the specialized firm Egaé commissioned by the management of Emmaüs, reports nine new accusations of sexual violence targeting Abbé Pierre. “The events described took place from the 1960s to the 2000s, most of the time in France and sometimes abroad”we can read in this report which brings to 33 the number of testimonies targeting the priest who died in 2007.
