After Real Madrid's heavy defeat against Barcelona in the Spanish Super Cup, criticism is raining down on the team's defensive performances.
Many are calling for changes, but offensively, apart from a lonely Mbappé, the Madrid club also lacked creativity and impact. In this context, the absence of two highly anticipated young talents this season, Arda Güler and Endrick, is intriguing.
According to AS, their status within Carlo Ancelotti's squad seems to be crumbling, despite encouraging performances in the Copa del Rey. On January 3, during the match against Deportiva Minera, Arda Güler impressed with a double, while Endrick was dangerous, without succeeding in making the goal due to an excellent Fran, the opposing goalkeeper.
However, since this match, radio silence, neither has had the opportunity to play against Valencia, Mallorca or Barcelona.

An opportunity in the Copa del Rey to get back on track
The lack of playing time for these two nuggets is worrying, especially since they had shown a defensive involvement praised by Ancelotti, in addition to their offensive potential. Despite this, Güler and Endrick remained on the bench during matches where their freshness and creativity could have made the difference.
As AS reports, this situation is not new. Since the start of the year, Arda Güler and Endrick have only participated in one of the four matches played by Real Madrid.
An opportunity this evening against Celta Vigo in the Copa del Rey could allow them to revive, but in La Liga and the Champions League, their role seems secondary for the moment.

Arda Güler and Endrick: a duo in the shadows, in search of confidence
Despite their short playing time, a departure this winter is not considered. Madrid leaders are banking on their long-term progress. Arda Güler, for example, overcame an injury-plagued start to the season before winning last December.
The Turkish midfielder notably scored a superb goal against Girona, following an assist from Bellingham, proving that he can be decisive in important moments.
As for Endrick, he started with a bang after his highly anticipated arrival, scoring goals in his first matches in La Liga and the Champions League.
Now, both players hope to regain Ancelotti's trust and return to the rotation. For now, they remain in the shadows, looking for opportunities to demonstrate that they deserve better.
