DECRYPTION – The young model publisher and the press agency have signed a multi-million euro contract to integrate the content of news reports into the responses of the conversational assistant Le Chat.
The timing of the announcement is purely coincidental, but the deal comes at a good time for Agence France-Presse. While Meta's sudden setback on its fact-checking program jeopardizes its service partnership with the American giant, the large press agency has just signed a multi-million euro contract with the model publisher. Its conversational assistant, called Le Chat – a competing product of OpenAI's ChatGPT – will be enriched with access to all the news reports produced daily by the agency in six languages, i.e. around 2,300 texts on current events each day. Thanks to this database, Le Chat will be able to provide more relevant answers to its users' queries, based on « content obeying the most rigorous journalistic principles »we remind AFP.
