Potter ‘can replicate Brighton success’ at West Ham after what Carlos Soler did

Carlos Soler was a standout performer for West Ham United against Fulham and Graham Potter may be able to replicate his success with Alexis Mac Allister at Brighton.

Premier League life under Potter got off to an excellent start on Tuesday (14 January) with a 3-2 victory against Fulham, with the Spaniard playing a starring role.

Potter played a crucial part in the development of Mac Allister during his time at Brighton and Soler appears to have all the necessary attributes needed for the ex-Chelsea boss to replicate that success at the London Stadium.

Carlos Soler shines for West Ham v Fulham

The Spaniard played a very different role for the Irons against Fulham, with a wide-left role in the absence of Crysencio Summerville, but his performance provided plenty of optimism and he looks capable of playing a crucial role going forward.

As per FotMob, Soler recorded a 90 per cent pass accuracy while getting on the scoresheet. His goal had an xG of just 0.07, but that chance was concerted to 0.72 xGOT, just showcasing how well he did to find the net given the difficulty of the opening.

Soler completed 50 per cent of dribbles and long passes, three of which were into the Fulham final third.

However, his defensive contributions showed signs of him being able to replicate the success of Mac Allister at Brighton.

The 28-year-old won his only tackle in the game and completed five defensive recoveries, showcasing his willingness to work just as hard off the ball.

He won 67 per cent of his ground duels and didn’t give a foul away in the clash.

West Ham have a player on their hands and, if he can keep fit, Potter looks to be the man capable of getting the best out of him – just like he did with Mac Allister down south.
