The man who took a set off Novak Djokovic at Wimbledon last year now faces a match up with Arthur Cazaux of France – but things haven’t started that well.

His opponent, ranked some 20 spots higher in the rankings, has raced into a two-game lead.

And now the players have gone off due to heavy rain in the Melbourne area.

Such rain isn’t entirely unheard of in the cityeven though it’s the height of summer and temperatures can often be sweltering.

But there will be NO play until 8am at the earliest.

Earlier, Andy Murray helped Novak Djokovic see off the challenge of Portuguese qualifier Jaime Faria in what was his 430th grand slam singles match.

It all means Djokovic takes the record ahead of Roger Federer for all-time grand slam singles matches.

Again the Serb dropped a set before prevailing 6-1 6-7(4) 6-3 6-2.

Afterwards Djokovic said: “I think I responded well in the third set and particularly the fourth.

“He was playing lights-out tennis at the end of the second set and start of the third and I had to weather the storm.

“I told him at the net, ‘the future is bright for you so carry on’.”
