The singer, who has been battling lung cancer for more than two years, should soon be back in The Voice. On this occasion, Florent Pagny spoke to Tele-Leisurelooking back on his illness and the professional projects that lie ahead for him.
After months of absence, Florent Pagny will make his comeback on February 1 for season 14 of The Voice. A reappearance eagerly awaited by his fans. The TF1 singing competition is returning to its roots with a simplification of the stages. There will therefore be nine evenings of blind auditions, while “cross battles” and other “super cross battles” will be replaced by a new mechanism: “groups”, during which talents will come together for a table collective. On the jury side, there is also change. Vianney keeps his red chair but two new ones will make their debut: Zaz and Patricia Kaas. At their side, the captain will take his place again after two years away from the sets.
Diagnosed with lung cancer in January 2022, Florent Pagny went through difficult timesalternating between intensive treatments and moments of respite. Despite his illness, the interpreter of “My Freedom of Thought” shows up punctually. Although his analyzes are now good, the 63-year-old singer admitted last October that he “will never again be serene” after his three relapses.
If all goes well now, Florent Pagny must have exams every three months
However, this Tuesday, January 14, the one who lives half the year in Patagonia wanted to be reassuring in the columns of Tele-Leisure. “There, everything is fine”said Azucena’s companion. But Florent Pagny does not live carefreely. “Every three months a doubt may arise, because I have medical examinations. Fingers crossed it will go well.”he declared to our colleagues.
The father admits: “I didn’t think I’d be able to come back to The Voice until next year.” But Florent Pagny allowed himself to be convinced. “I took a break because I don’t like routine and the desire came back, but the production disrupted my plans”he explains. Besides, anyone who doesn't have his tongue in his pocket doesn't intend to stop there. The year 2025 promises great projects for Florent Pagny. “Eventually, it's better this way because with a new album and a tour planned for 2026, I will have less time“, revealed the former companion of Vanessa Paradis.
