The bitter cold and widespread frosts from earlier this week will continue. For the day of Wednesday January 15, 2025, 24 departments were placed on yellow “severe cold” vigilance and 16 departments on yellow “snow-ice” vigilance by Météo France in its 4 p.m. bulletin.
Overall, they are located in the north-eastern quarter, in the center and in part of the west of France. Other departments are concerned by yellow “avalanche” vigilance.

Among the temperatures recorded at 4 p.m. by Météo France this Tuesday, January 14, it is 8°C in Brest and Biarritz; 4°C in Paris, Lille and Nantes; 1°C in Strasbourg; 0°C in Lyon; 6°C in Marseille; 5°C in Bordeaux and Toulouse; and 12°C in Nice and Ajaccio.
For Wednesday, the meteorological institute forecasts a cloudy deterioration in the north, accompanied by a slight mild spell.
At daybreak, the frosts will still be very marked with -1 to -6°C, up to -7 to -8°C in Auvergne, Limousin and the Provençal hinterland. During the day, a slight mild spell sets in with maximums of 4 to 8°C in general, and up to 10 to 15°C near the Mediterranean regions.
Haute-Savoie will also be on yellow alert because of the wind. Furthermore, orange “flood” vigilance will continue to concern the Oise on Wednesday.
