No amateur Football this weekend in Limburg. Football Flanders decided on Friday morning to proceed with a general cancellation. Due to the first winter injection of 2025, youth football matches will also be canceled. Football is only played in the Jupiler Pro League, Challenger Pro League and the first national VV, with the exception of Belisia – OHL B.

After a winter break of (more than) three weeks, the amateur football competition would resume this weekend. Could be, because the snowfall since Wednesday evening is now putting a stop to that. Football Flanders decided on Friday afternoon to proceed with a general cancellation at provincial level in Limburg, Antwerp and Flemish Brabant.
In first national VV All matches, with the exception of Belisia – OH Leuven B, will continue. The referee decides on the spot. Antwerp B-Hasselt and Ninove-THES will therefore be played (until further notice).
In second in third department VV All matches in the B series will be cancelled. For the matches of the A series, the referee decides on the spot.
Any other business
A logical decision, as a survey by our editors at numerous Limburg clubs showed. Playing football in these circumstances is (almost) impossible. The fields are covered in snow and the subsoil is saturated due to the rain of the past few days. The Competitions Department of Voetbal Vlaanderen, which also listened to the clubs, was already inundated with questions on Thursday about whether there would be a cancellation or not. But it waited until Friday morning to finally make that decision. That decision has now been communicated: amateur football in Limburg must make way for King Winter this weekend. It has not yet been announced exactly when the matches will be rescheduled. But when the calendar for the first teams was drawn up, the (carnival) weekend of March 1 and 2 was already reserved as a ‘fallback option for postponed matches’.
-“The youth matches, reserve matches, G-football matches and recreational matches (not climbing and descending) will not be relocated. Clubs can set a new date by mutual agreement via E-kickoff,” Voetbal Vlaanderen said.
Professional football
For a good understanding: in professional football there will be normal football this weekend. The referee can then decide on the spot to cancel the match. That was already the case in Lommel, for example, where the match against Francs Borains was normally on the agenda on Friday evening.
All Elite Youth matches (U10 to U21) have also been postponed to a later date.
Wallonia
The ACFF, the Walloon counterpart of Voetbal Vlaanderen, decided to implement a general cancellation in the provinces of Namur, Liège, Hainaut, Walloon Brabant and Brussels.
