RIYADH, Saudi Arabia (AP) — In a thrilling encounter on Thursday, Cristiano Ronaldo netted his 11th goal of the season, steering Al-Nassr to a convincing 3-1 victory over Al-Okhdood as the Saudi Pro League kicked off after a month-long hiatus.
The match started on a puzzling note for Al-Nassr when Saviour Goodwin struck first for Al-Okhdood, putting the Riyadh giants on the back foot early in the game.
However, the former Liverpool sensation Sadio Mane swiftly equalized in the 29th minute, setting the stage for a riveting battle.
It wasn’t long before Ronaldo showcased his trademark poise, converting a penalty just three minutes before half-time to give Al-Nassr the lead. At 39 years of age, the Portuguese forward continues to defy age and capture hearts, having been last season’s top scorer and currently trailing only Aleksandar Mitrovic of Al-Hilal in this season’s scoring race.
