new record for Inter, franceinfo retains second place

Inter remains more than ever at the top of the ranking of the most listened to radio stations in France, with nearly 7.5 million listeners per day in November and December 2024. franceinfo and RTL are behind, while Europe 1 continues its progress .

A leader who is still progressing. France Inter retains its first place among the most listened to radio stations in the country, according to the Médiamétrie ranking on the November and December 2024 wave, published Thursday January 9. The public service station even beats its historic record with 13.3% cumulative audience, or 0.5 points better than in September-October 2024. This score even constitutes a record “since the creation of the Médiamétrie measure in 2002”according to France Inter. The station is listened to by nearly 7.5 million people every day, an increase of nearly 250,000 listeners over two waves.

franceinfo, another public service radio station, remains in second place, with a cumulative audience of 9.3% (+0.4 points over two waves) and 200,000 more listeners. The 24-hour news station is pleased to be “up on all indicators”notably the morning show which recorded 221,000 more listeners in one year. “These audience results demonstrate that franceinfo is a benchmark of reliability and validate our reason for being,” continues the radio.

RTL, which lost second place in the previous wave, is still third but is regaining color. The station increased slightly to 8.8% cumulative audience (+0.1 point), and gained 50,000 listeners. The good performance of private radio stations is to the credit of Europe 1, which continues its recovery. Vincent Bolloré’s station gained 470,000 listeners over one year, now with a 4.8% cumulative audience (+0.4 points).

Radio Ici, formerly France Bleu, is at the same level, at 4.8%, with a stable audience over one year. France Culture is at 3.6%, down slightly over two waves, but up over one year. Overall, public service radio stations are recording excellent performances, with nearly 15.5 million listeners per day. Radio France even sets its absolute record in audience share, with 31.9%, according to the public group.
