Lübeck. The first snow of the year enchanted Lübeck and the surrounding area into a winter wonderland. At Bungsberg, courageous children quickly ventured out on their sleighs. But the snow also caused some accidents and traffic jams on the winter roads and paths. The winter service had its hands full: roads, footpaths and cycle paths had to be cleared of snow or sprinkled as quickly as possible. But this apparently didn’t work everywhere.

The employees of the Lübeck waste disposal company (EBL) had already moved out on Friday night. The spokesman for the EBL, Mirko Wetter, stated that gritting would also be carried out regularly on cycle paths. In Roonstrasse in St. Gertrud, this is only the case to a limited extent: In the direction of Drägerpark, the cycle path along the four-lane road is closed by a construction fence. A sign warns: “No winter service”.

Ghost cyclists on Roonstrasse?

However, the cycle path is not closed in the other direction. Cyclists seem to have to avoid these for the time being – even though “ghost cycling” is a misdemeanor.
