Kim Kardashian lifted the lid on her family’s Christmas Eve tradition this year. When it comes to Chrimbo, the Kar-Jenners don’t do anything by halves. They might have chosen to go “low-key” with their celebrations but the release of a whole Christmas song from Kim really shows her festive spirit.
Reality star Kim Kardashian admitted in an interview with Vogue that her top festive tune is Santa Baby. Cut to around a week later, and The Kardashians star has only gone and released her own cover of the famous song. Not only is Kim singing, but she’s starring in a music video produced by her brother-in-law Travis Barker. And, it’s directed by British visual artist and filmmaker Nadia Lee Cohen.
Kim Kardashian gets ‘artsy’ this Christmas
With the Kardashians’ traditional Christmas Eve party headed for a low-key vibe this year, Kim Kardashian is sharing her interpretation of a classic Christmas song which really isn’t low-key, at all.
Last year, the Kardashians recorded a song all together for Christmastime.
But, now, the mom of four stars in her own music video crawling across a floor into various rooms during the 4:44 short film.
Kim maneuvers over train sets, scoots around people dressed as elves, and even climbs through the legs of one elf who’s fixing the kitchen sink.
The video’s giving sultry vibes, and some go as far to say it’s “unhinged” in the YouTube comments section.
One person asks why “Christmas can’t just be fun and nice,” and another pens: “Is this for Halloween…. because this scares me.”
More take to Reddit to give their take on Kim’s video: “I love how The Kardashians are trying to rebrand as artistic and a bit weird. Will never rate them much but it’s interesting to see what they attempt to stay relevant.”
No-one was prepared for the ending
Rounding off what some people think is Kim’s bizarre journey around a Christmassy home, is an ending Reddit users say they never saw coming.
One writes: “Nothing prepared me for the ending,” and another simply puts: “The Ending!”
Others say: “Wasn’t expecting that ending,” and more comment: “Watch the ending for a celebrity cameo.”
The ending? Well, Kim looks upward to Macauley Caulkin sitting in a chair dressed as Santa Claus.
The video hasn’t totally gone down like a (confusing) lead balloon, however.
Some people are seeing artistic talent, and write: “Okay I do love Nadia Lee Cohen and this is classic her. I kind of love it.”
Another recognizes how The Kardashians star’s vocals have come along, commenting: “Kim got better at singing.”
