The former mayor of Ajaccio, deputy and close to Edouard Philippe, had already been considered last September, when the Barnier government was formed. But the discussions were unsuccessful. This time, Laurent Marcangeli will be around the table, during the next council of ministers, which will be held on January 3, 2025.
He inherits the portfolio of public action, civil service and simplification.
His deputy, Xavier Lacombe, territorial councilor and mayor of Peri, will become the new deputy for the first constituency of Corse-du-Sud.
François Rebsamen, a former socialist aligned with macronism, is entrusted with the portfolio of Minister responsible for Regional Planning and Decentralization, and takes over from Catherine Vautrin, at the ministry which had been entrusted with the Corsican file thanks to the Barnier government.
Gérald Darmanin, who launched negotiations with island elected officials concerning the autonomy of Corsica and its constitutional development, for many months, while he was Minister of the Interior, returns to the government, to the Ministry of Justice.
