The village of Rion-des-Landes has lost its icon. Maïté her real name Marie-Thérèse Ordonez died on the night of Friday December 20 to Saturday December 21 learns News Landes. She was 86 years old.

Generous and authentic

She became famous throughout with her show “The Kitchen of the Musketeers” broadcast on FR3 which highlighted generous and authentic gastronomy. We particularly remember its XXL duck breast hamburger, a snub to the American fast-food brand.

At the start of her life, she worked as an announcer for the SNCF. Trumpet in hand, she warned railway workers that a train was approaching. She was spotted by television in 1983 while a report was being filmed within the Rion-des-Landes rugby club.

Still in the small Landes village, she opened two restaurants, “Le Relais des Landes” in 1988, then “Chez Maïté”, before bowing out in the mid-2010s.

She was also an actress, with a leading role in “The Fabulous Destiny of Madame Petlet” in 1995, scenes of which were filmed in her village. We will also find her on TF1 for this reality game “La Ferme des celebrities”.
