Ten arrivals at the summit… and a stopover in France

The 80th edition of The Return will set off from Italy, in Piedmont, with a departure in Turin and an arrival at the summit in Limone Piemonte on the second day, on moderate terrain. After crossing the Alps and a stopover in France at Voiron (Isère), the peloton will reach Spain on the 5th day for a decisive sequence: a team time trial in Figueras (20 km) and two mountain stages with summit arrivals in Andorra, in Pal and Cerler.

From there, the route will concentrate in the north of Spain, chaining difficulties in Asturias, the Basque Country and Galicia, with ten summit finishes. Highlights include Valdezcaray, Larra Belagua, and an intense day around Bilbao with the fearsome Pike Coast. Next up is the legendary Angliru, followed by Farrapona and Morredero. If that is not enough to decide between the favorites, a second time in Valladolid (26 km) and a double final ascent in Navacerrada and Bola del Mundo (2258 m) should seal the race before the finish in Madrid.
